Setting up cashier permissions

As soon as someone other than you is on the till, one question matters: what should each person be allowed to do? KaroBaryaar answers it with roles and granular permissions, so a cashier can sell without being able to change prices, view your profit, or delete records.

Roles: a starting point

A role is a named set of permissions — for example Cashier, Manager or Owner. Instead of setting permissions one person at a time, you set them once on the role and assign the role to your staff. New cashier? Assign the Cashier role and they inherit exactly the right access.

Permissions: the fine control

Underneath roles, permissions are specific. You can allow or block things like:

• Giving discounts or changing a price at the counter
• Processing returns and refunds
• Viewing sales totals, profit and reports
• Editing products, stock or supplier records
• Opening the cash drawer or closing the day

Turn off what a role shouldn’t touch, and those buttons simply don’t appear for that person.

Per-counter permissions

Busy shops run more than one checkout. KaroBaryaar lets you tie staff and permissions to a specific counter, so each till has its own logged-in cashier and its own limits. This is a core part of the grocery store setup, where several counters run at once and you want each one accountable.

Accountability

Because everyone logs in as themselves, actions are tied to a person. If a discount looks wrong or a return needs checking, you can see who did what — which is far harder when everyone shares one login.

A simple approach to start

You don’t need a complicated structure on day one. A good starting point:

1. Keep full access for yourself (Owner).
2. Give managers most things except sensitive financial settings.
3. Give cashiers billing only — no price changes, no reports.
